Bursting with rich fruit flavors and crafted with love, our homemade organic heritage cider is a true taste of Middle Coombe Farm.
Over 15 years ago, Tim envisioned restoring the heritage cider orchard that once thrived in our valley. After carefully selecting 15 local cider apple varieties – including Black Tom Putt, Devon Quarrenden, Dabinett, Brown Snout, and Slack-ma-Girdle – our organic heritage orchard was reborn, quite literally, one tree at a time.
Since then, we've been dedicated to producing small-batch cider the traditional way. Every apple is hand picked, and we use our heritage cider press, employing the age-old technique of using a 'cheese' of straw cut right here on the estate. Only a carefully curated blend of apples from our orchard makes it into our cider.
With every sip, we celebrate the tradition and significance of these unique apple varieties and the unparalleled beauty of locally crafted cider.

Preserving heritage, nurturing wildilfe
Traditional orchards, once abundant, have steadily vanished over the past century, taking with them not only local apple varieties but also vital wildlife and cultural heritage. At Middle Coombe Farm, we believe that restoring and caring for our 10-acre orchard, is a gift for our wildlife!
Blending elements of woodland, meadow, grassland, and pasture, our orchard offers a rich habitat that supports native species year-round. From the nectar-rich blossoms that nourish our bees in spring to the windfall apples that sustain our resident deer, badgers, and birds in autumn, our orchard is a vibrant ecosystem that cherishes both nature and tradition.

Cider Pressing
Every autumn we come together to celebrate the tradition of cider pressing. This annual event is the culmination of the year's hard work in the orchard and we gather the apples by hand using our ancient cider press.
Here at Middle Coombe Farm we stay true to the traditional methods, ensuring every bottle of cider is crafted in the way passed down through the generations. We use only apples harvested from our orchard, hand-packed for ripeness. The pressing process still uses the traditional 'cheese' of straw cut in the valley to add a unique character to the cider - and of course, a good dose of muscle power.
For us, cider pressing is more than a step in the production of cider; it's a celebration of our community and heritage. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, the sweet scent of apples and the fellowship of each other. If you would like to join us, keep an eye out for our pressing day in October and join in the fun.

Our Cider
Our cider is 100% natural and we believe in letting nature take its course and ferment the cider using only the natural yeast from the apple skins. Each year's cider has its own distinct taste, colour and blend of apples depending on the yield, weather and blend. No two years are alike and reflect the skill and experience of the cidermaker joining us.
Depending on the yield, wedding couples will be able to request Middle Coombe Cider is served at their celebration with us, ask Clydie for more information when booking.
